[Satellite TODAY 05-24-13] Hermes Datacommunications and MEASAT Satellite have reached an agreement for the provision of VSAT satellite communication services across Malaysia’s offshore oilfields via the MEASAT-3 satellite.

Under the agreement, Hermes will base their new communications hub at the MEASAT Teleport and Broadcast Center. The Hermes Datacomms hub will provide telecommunications access to Malaysia’s growing oil and gas industry via VSAT connectivity. The hub is a result of a significant investment by Hermes to support a drilling campaign being carried out in Malaysian waters.

"Our new hub provides optimized bandwidth utilization for efficient and reliable communications with high link quality to support voice calls, video and real-time data applications for Malaysian oilfields," Mohd Faizal Zainal Amri, general manager of Hermes Malaysia said in a statement.
